Family, Part 2

I spent most of Saturday with my mom over at my grandmother's house. Just clearing up the clutter that accumulates over time, and then dusting & cleaning room by room. She had a housekeeper for years that literally just went through the motions. I swear that cleaning woman didn't actually clean anything, but rather just moved stuff around.

My mom got Nana set up with Response Link, in the event she needs medical assistance and is unable to get to her phone since she lives alone. She also has a slick new walker since she is very weak right now. It was fulfilling to devote time to something important that I know she needs & appreciates. Makes me (almost) want to fake being sick so someone will come clean my house! My mom was a total rock star with all of the other things she did over at Nana's, and Dad is always amazing with his willingness to do the things no one else wants to (organize the garage & rake the leaves). Once a week, I'll drop over there to take her trash out, get her recycling & get any grocery items she's needing. At one point, Nana asked, "How can I ever thank you?" And I responded that taking care of each other is simply what family does.

None of us are certain what's in store for her healthwise, but we're keeping our fingers crossed, our spirits up, and our hearts open. We should know more late this week.

I'll be heading back east tomorrow, so mostly what I can offer is prayers and positive thoughts...but if there is ever anything I can do don't hesitate to ask.

I'll keep your grandma in my thoughts and prayers. She's a lucky woman to have such a great family. I'll echo Suellen's sentiment, if there's anything I can do, please ask. That's what friends are for!
