Why Luxottica Group Sucks A$$

Can someone explain to me how this makes any sense at all?

  1. I buy a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses for $155.
  2. Less than a month later one of the nose pieces breaks off.
  3. I look online at where I can take the glasses, and it shows a mailing address.
  4. I send my glasses in with my original receipt and a letter explaining what happened.
  5. I get a letter back from Luxottica asking me to call them.
And this is what they say:

I need to go to a retailer and select 4-5 models of sunglasses & write down the codes/numbers and call Luxottica back. Then, they will send me a new pair, and I have to pay $159.

HUH???

what WHAT??

They're idiots.
They need to send you your sunglasses back, AND a new pair for free.

Did you call back to speak to a manager?

Bummer. Hearing of experiences like that are why I go with these:

Yes, I asked to speak to a manager. She said their process was to take down my number & someone would call me within 72 hours. Whatever.

Yeah, I think trying to buy a nice pair of non-sports sunglasses for once in 6 years was a big mistake.

Yup, I just got suckered by the Luxottica group and LenCrafters. Bought Brooks Brothers titanium frames and spent a lot of money on special lenses (high-index, progressives, anti-glare, etc. - the lenses cost $600) Even though I am very careful with the frames, the nose piece broke off. Now I find out that the frames were already discontinued for TWO years by the time I bought them (for full price)! So no possibility for a replacement frame or replacement parts so no repair can be done and my $600 for the lenses is now wasted. Sure, LenCrafters told me they will discount a new frame, but do you think I will ever buy a frame from them again after what I just went through?? Turns out that even though the frames have the Brooks Brothers brand, the glasses are just the low-quality glasses that Luxottica produces. Total garbage and deceptive business practices.

I feel your frustration. I recently had my scratched lenses repaired. Luxottica USA LLC has sent back my sunglasses with new lenses AND new scratches on them. Not something I would expect for a pair of sunglasses that cost over $250 plus $50 in repair fees.

It is really sad how a something like this can impact the perception of the brand. You can assure, I will be moving away from this incapable brand.
