- Why is it that sometimes when you see certain people from your past (for me, it’s always someone from college) that your gut reaction is to look the other way, pretend not to see them and/or hide? I’m not sure why I want to act like this, but I know I’m not the only person who does this.
- I went to Petsmart today & decided that in addition to making my purchases, I’d spend some time holding the cats up for adoption. Why? Well one of them kept nudging against the Plexiglas whenever I stood close, clearly wanting someone to pet her. The primary reason, though, is that the smallest kitten there looked just like my Lucy when she was a baby – that’s Lucy below.
Apparently, the Paws of Kyle kitten is the last of 7 kittens from a litter that was brought in last week. How sad that she’s the last one! I do NOT need another cat, and she’ll be adopted quickly over the weekend, I’m sure. She just cried and cried when I put her back and walked away. I could hear her from the register! Playing with this little one for a few minutes, and recalling my own Lucy as a kitten, just makes me love her all over again. - I cannot BELIEVE that I have had a coworker over the last few months ask me about these 2 things:
a. How to remove highlights from a Word doc
b. How to copy and paste information from one Word doc to another
This guy is 40ish, and has been in the workforce for over 20 years. I just cannot understand how over the course of time, he has not learned how to do these tasks. - I’m a foodie & I love Food Network – scratch that, I only like a few shows, but I REALLY like those shows. On occasion, I’ll catch part of Paula Dean’s “Home Cooking” but I’m really not a big fan. She licks her fingers, puts tons of butter in everything (not to add any flavor value, but just because that’s her “thing”), and I even saw her put her tongue directly in a chocolate fountain one time. Yuck! Anyway, so the other day I’m catching her saying that Gertie, the big yellow Lab that’s always with her on the show, is not actually her dog. She’s an “extra” who has her own agent and went to work on another show. What?!?! I figured a lot of these shows are fake, but COME ON! A fake pet? And why on earth did she even say anything? Now, I’m wondering if Giada does her show in her actual home (Is that her dining room we occasionally see in the background? Is that her neighborhood she’s walking through with her sister? Is that her actual backyard she’s always entertaining in? Is that even her husband, Todd?).
I think that's all I have for today.

Paula Deen was in the life and arts today. Funny, your blog is only the second time i've ever heard of her. i'm confused why you would need a dog on a cooking show.
She's all about "down home" and I guess having a dog lounging around begging for treats makes people think they're actually in someone's home - she also has Lady Bird who is a parrot on the show. I wonder if that's actually her bird, or it's also an "extra"
1 - I do the same thing. But with people I know today as well!
2 - Shame on you for leaving the Kitty. Go back and adopt the kitty!
3 - Maybe he's flirting with you and his brain turns to mush when he sees you?
4 - No comment
People from college...do it all the time. I kind of thought most of the girls in my sorority were really, well, bitchy, and I see one of them at Town Lake every time I'm down there, and another at every UT football game. I avoid them actively, compulsively and almost pathologically.
As long as Giada's boobs aren't props....
I have a co-worker who does that. He doesn't know how to type or use the delete/backspace buttons. He doesn't know how to email and cc others. When I showed him copy/paste, he freaked out..."whoa, whoa, whoa...you just lost me!"
How do these people function?
