This morning I met my sister for a run over to Austin High where we did the "More Pricks Than Kicks" track workout. Gilbert's group was out there, as was the Austin High Drill Team gearing up for the school year (insert Panther's daydream here)...
We each did two repeats of the workout, and then decided the track was just far too crowded so we headed back over to Auditorium Shores. While we were talking and getting some water from the RunTex coolers, I felt this hot sensation on my shoulder/arm, kind of like a bug was on me. I swatted at it, but alas it was not a bug. It was a nice blob of bird poop (which I actually believe is bird urine, since they don't really "poop", per se). So, not only did I have it on my arm, but now I had smeared it and it was on my hand. After laughing, gagging and dousing myself with a bunch of water, my sister mentioned that it's good luck (and that it was also in my hair). I'd never heard that bird poop is good luck, but I did Google it, and apparently it's a pretty common wives' tale.
I'll take some good luck, even if that means some hot bird poop on my arm. It is Monday, after all.
