Hotel Stories

No, this post will not be what you think. Sorry to disappoint. But I have observed over recent months that it seems I always get the hotel room that requires maintenance. Usually, it's little stuff, but in nice hotels (Magnolia-Houston, W Times Square, Westin-Boston, etc.) you'd think the rooms would be properly maintained. Here's a sampling of what I've encountered:
  • closet door immediately falls off the track
  • hair dryer only has one speed, and it's "low" (if it works at all)
  • missing TV remote
  • cordless phone doesn't work
  • when TV remote is replaced, the batteries don't work
  • burned out lightbulbs
  • missing lightbulbs
  • fluorescent bulb in bathroom flashes
  • a grand total of 2 hangers in the closet
  • wet carpet and/or wet upholstery
  • hotel amenities booklet is not in the beautiful leather portfolio - and this also means no room service menu

Oh, and they forget to pick up your breakfast order door card... Usually the hotel staff are always extremely helpful, and I suppose maintenance doesn't necessarily go room to room looking for problems to solve. But I'm wondering: is this only happening to me?
